Two National Parks · Royal Capital · Boat Ride
The Great Montenegro Tour is a full-day trip that covers the country’s most significant landscapes, history, and culture — all in one day. Furthermore, it does this without rushing. Each stop gives you time to look, walk, eat, and understand what you are seeing.
Your journey starts with a climb to Lovćen National Park. You can go up by cable car or along the historic Austro-Hungarian road — both give you clear views of the Bay of Kotor as you rise above it. At the top, you eat a traditional breakfast and hike to Lake Peak (Jezerski Vrh). There, you visit the Njegoš Mausoleum – Montenegro’s highest point and home to the iconic statue of Petar Petrović Njegoš. On a clear day, you can see neighbouring countries and the Italian coastline.
Next, you walk through the Old Royal Capital Cetinje. This is Montenegro’s cultural and historical centre. Specifically, you visit historic monasteries, royal palaces, and architectural landmarks that show how the country developed over centuries.
After Cetinje, the tour stops at the Pavlova Strana viewpoint. This gives you a clear, wide photograph of the landscape below. Subsequently, you travel to the Crnojević River in Lake Skadar National Park. Here, you eat a traditional lunch beside the river and take a boat ride through the vegetation, spotting wildlife along the way.
Finally, the Great Montenegro Tour ends with a stop at St. Stefan — Montenegro’s famous island and one of the most photographed spots in the Adriatic. You return to Kotor with a full picture of what this country is and why it stays with people long after they leave.
This tour suits first-time visitors above all others. It combines mountains, history, lakes, rivers, and coastal scenery in a single well-structured day. In short, if you have one day to understand Montenegro, this is how you use it.
“Montenegro is small enough to cover in a day. Good enough to come back to for years.”
